Down The Drain
Chorus:
All you people are is the fabric on your back
And you listen to this music 'cause it makes your ego indestructable
Here it goes again...
Danny's Verse:
I came here lookin' for a friend
Music, boy, she never ends
When I want her I can hold her
When I'm hungry I can eat her
She's a resource in short supply
Too many take her and die
When you're all grabbing for her breast
You dare not forfeit shirt off your chest
Chorus-
Mac's Verse:
Sorrow and elitism make it for the best
Their ignorance puts my will to the test
And another week goes by and another soul not saved
Your life is lived in vain
Chorus-
Dylan's Verse:
Swimming in a sea of all my lost memories
My fun's gone down the drain
All my joy is gone and all the notes are wrong
I'll run from this home I've known so long
Chorus-
Pinole Blues Minor
I woke up one day in mid-July
I heard the damnedest of news, it brought a tear to my eye
When I first heard the news,
I closed my eyes and ears
Three boys shot in Fernandez Park, two let down and die
Why? The people asked. Why?
Why must such good boys face such harm and die?
The cops were confused and
the citizens turned their heads
What can we do to stop this from ever happening again?
The youth stood strong and
honored their fallen friends
We will never forget you forever you will remain in our hearts
They said it was a thug,
a no good gangbanger from Richmond
May he be condemned, may he be condemned
Mike's Song
Chorus:
Michael, oh now Michael, I've been hearin' some bad news about you
Friendships they are strong but will soon be come and gone
Please, Michael, don't let me down
The last I had heard was
the spoken word, of a good friend of mind
He said that you was down and ramblin' through your town
Lost, scared and lonesome
Chorus
Don't listen to the rest,
just trust your friends know best
Worry not, we'll always be side by side
Now it sure would be a drag if you'd become a scab
Please now, Michael, what are we waiting on?
Chorus
The present is so nice,
it's a comfy place to be, but you've got to see
That what our futures hold will someday unfold
Sorry to say but your's ain't lookin' too good.
Chorus
Ballad for Your Generation
With the age of education gone
The aeon of misinformation begins
It's all mighty plain to see
Public schools have no money
It's sad to see a generation go
Completely wired into a hole
Information travels at a very high speed
Yet I dont see nothin' being learned
The Public schools have fallen into a frightening pattern
of profit
They continue to tell the students it's all right
Aside from the fact they weed out individuality
First to go will be the art and music programs
Then prepare to say goodbye to sports
The drama department will soon crumble
Then shapeless futures will be born
Big corporations on the rise control the way we feel
The groceries we buy have all been set for sale by very rich men
Of whom work with advertisements and those giant media monopolies
Those monopolies control the way we think but I want to take my thoughts back
I can't even react in my normal manner
without second guessing
My knowledge, my wit
People of this age live on the internet
Which seems like a growing idea
But all we do is sit and waste time
To keep our brains occupied
They will keep filling 'em with shit
Told it's up to us to put forth and effort
But nothing is being done
Maybe if we all got pissed out enough
Something will get done
Realize you've been lied to
Realize they are trying to take control
Inform yourself of the horrific things
These world governments have done
It started at the time when
Mankind discovered greed
So the few elites that have everything
Influence our everyday lives
We can take our power back
And live dignified lives
We can form together and re-engineer, this old political machinery
I'm telling yeh it starts with the youth
For they will for the future
Take the money out of war
And put it into schools
We all deserve equal opportunities
As humans to be free
But as time goes on while being complacent
Our freedom will be taken away
Together we shall be strong
A mass of distinct individuals
And if we start to move now
We can win the right to live.
Ballad of a Lost Friend
The last time I saw that ole friend of mine it was many a-year ago
I had it in mind that he was that same ole friend I knew once before
But to my surprise he wasn't no friend I knew
He changed, he moved, he changed, he was behind
Chorus:
Saw each other at a recent congregation
And by God I never want to see him again
Just let bye-gones be bye-gones
Just let it go my friend
Sat down by the table with
my ole guitar and then I sang the blues and the folk tunes that I love
Friend o' mine started to nag and said my music was dull
Well I'll be my friend, well I'll be damned if I ever see yeh again.
Chorus
After our little dispute
I said to him lets argue no more
--(harp solo!!)
As the knight when on I found his talk to be more than cumbersome
Well I didnt see him the whole night through
Chorus, harp solo
Walkin' into trouble
Well, my friend, listen to what I have to say
Because I feel you are walkin into trouble
What is trouble you say? What is trouble you say?
Trouble is when you're talken to a woman who isnt your own
I know you're gonna slip, I know you're gonna slip my friend
This woman is the devil
I tell yeh
She ain't no good for you
Just think about your sweetheart in the East Bay
You know better, I know you know better my friend
(harp solo!! yeaaah!)
Not too late to start backin'
away, not too late I say
Please, friend of mine dont slip and fall
Because I feel you are walkin' into trouble
